Requirements

  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must have three reference forms completed and submitted to TISD, one of which should be from a current or previous employer. Applicants must work well with children and adults. Experience in working with children is preferred. If hired, the applicant is responsible for the cost of being fingerprinted before being allowed in the classroom.

Completing the application process does not guarantee placement as an active substitute teacher

  • in TISD. Applications and references will be reviewed. Those who are hired will be required to complete substitute teacher training and all required paperwork must be completed in order to be placed on the active substitute teacher list.
