Substitute School Nurse

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and other health concerns during the school day.
• Provide first aid and determine when a student needs additional medical care.
• Administer medications and follow individual student health plans in accordance with school procedures and applicable requirements.
• Respond to medical emergencies, including activating emergency services when appropriate.
• Document care provided and communicate relevant information to parents or guardians and school staff.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked health office.
• Provide a calm, welcoming environment for students of all ages.
• Competencies and Skills Desired.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience working with children or adolescents; school nursing experience preferred.
• Sound clinical judgment and the ability to respond calmly to urgent situations.
• Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
• Ability to protect confidential health information and work collaboratively with the school community.
• Successful completion of Waterford School’s required background screening.
