Structural Inspector (Infrastructure & Bridges)

Role overview

Bridge inspections

• Inspect pile foundations and witness integrity and load testing; verify reinforcement and formwork before concrete pours.
• Witness concrete pours, sampling, slump tests, and temperature monitoring.
• Inspect precast girders during fabrication, transport, and erection; witness post-tensioning and verify bearing installation.
• Inspect deck slabs, parapets, crash barriers, waterproofing, asphalt overlays, expansion joints, drainage scuppers, and deck furniture.

Tunnel inspections

• Inspect cut-and-cover excavation, diaphragm and secant pile walls, and underpinning systems; monitor TBM operations and ring build geometry where applicable.
• Inspect shotcrete, rock bolts, lattice girders, steel rib supports, and ground movement readings with the geotechnical team.
• Inspect secondary lining reinforcement, formwork, concrete pours, waterproofing membranes, construction joints, water stops, and post-grouting.
• Inspect cross passages, ventilation shafts, emergency exits, and associated structural elements.

Quality, safety, and reporting

• Review inspection requests and witness pre-pour checks, acceptance tests, non-destructive testing, and concrete testing in line with ITPs.
• Verify survey setting-out and structural geometry against issued-for-construction drawings; raise and track non-conformance and observation reports.
• Enforce the project HSE plan, stop unsafe activities, and support coordination with relevant authorities.
• Maintain inspection records, photo logs, and as-built documentation in Aconex or ProjectWise; prepare daily and weekly reports and support close-out inspections.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and at least 8 years of structural inspection experience on both bridge and tunnel projects.
• At least 4 years of UAE/GCC experience on RTA, metro, or comparable authority projects; consultant-side supervision is preferred.
• Strong technical drawing-reading skills and familiarity with TBM operations, ring build geometry, and shotcrete/SCL methodologies.
• Proficiency in MS Office; fair knowledge of an AutoCAD viewer; fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong reporting, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills; integrity, impartiality, and professionalism.
• Must be able and willing to work underground, in confined spaces, on rotating shifts, and at night.
• RTA/Dubai Municipality Inspector Engineer approval and a valid UAE driving license are preferred.
