Role overview

Perform structural engineering tasks using engineering principles, design techniques, and analytical methods for building and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop or supervise structural deliverables meeting project requirements, applicable codes, and quality standards.
  • Analyze and design steel-framed buildings, reinforced and prestressed concrete, composite structures, and precast or cast-in-place concrete structures.
  • Prepare structural calculations, design criteria, specifications, drawings, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Define scope, budgets, and schedules; plan activities and monitor progress.
  • Develop practical, safe, economical, and constructible solutions using engineering judgment.
  • Coordinate designs with architects, MEP, civil, geotechnical, contractor, and other project disciplines.
  • Review drawings, specifications, shop drawings, calculations, and submissions for compliance with project requirements and standards.
  • Guide CAD designers, BIM modelers, drafters, and junior engineers; support procurement, tender evaluations, contractor queries, and construction requirements.
  • Participate in site inspections, field surveys, condition assessments, and construction support as required.
  • Resolve technical issues, communicate project status, and potentially lead structural work or supervise staff on small- to medium-sized projects.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of structural engineering design experience.
  • Demonstrated steel structure analysis and design experience, including buildings, platforms, mezzanines, industrial structures, connections, and secondary steelwork.
  • Good knowledge of applicable structural codes and standards, such as AISC, ASCE, IBC, ACI, Eurocodes, BS Standards, or equivalent international standards.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, IDEA StatiCa, SAFE, MIDAS, CSiBridge, Autodesk Structural Analysis and Design, or equivalent.
  • Ability to prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical submissions; understanding of detailing, constructability, materials, and construction methods.
  • Effective multidisciplinary coordination, analytical and problem-solving ability, organization, and communication skills.
  • Effective spoken and written English.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with reinforced, prestressed, precast, and cast-in-place concrete, composite steel, foundations, or other infrastructure structures is desirable.
  • Professional engineering registration or progress toward registration is preferred.
  • International project experience, multidisciplinary design coordination, or construction-support experience is an advantage.
