About GSM
- GSM is the EV mobility platform of Vingroup, Vietnam's largest private conglomerate.
- Our scope is global, and our model is unusually broad - we operate at the intersection of
- electric vehicle solutions, vehicle financing, EV charging and depot infrastructure, technology development, and ride-hailing and adjacent mobility services
- .
- We are scaling internationally with an ambitious multi-year expansion programme spanning several regions.
- The Market Development team is being built now to drive that expansion.
- The Strategy Director is the senior hire of the Strategy function within that team.
- The role:
- You will be the
- primary strategy partner to the Deputy CEO of Market Development
- shaping which markets we enter and when, how we enter them, and which combination of business lines (vehicles, financing, infrastructure, technology, and services) we lead with in each. You will build and lead a small consulting-style team that drives the analytical core of our market-entry decisions, at the pace and quality bar set by senior leadership.
- This is a builder role.
- There is no existing playbook - you'll set the analytical standards, the engagement scoping, and the team's operating model.
- Your output supports decisions on capital allocation, sequencing, and business-model fit at the highest levels of the organisation.
- What you'll own
- Strategic analysis and prioritisation
- Lead market scans across our expansion portfolio - sizing, competitive structure, regulatory fit, EV-infrastructure maturity, unit economics
- Recommend launch sequencing and overall market-entry strategy
- Identify which adjacent business opportunities should layer on top of the core mobility offer in each market
- Financial modelling and business cases
- Own the per-market financial model template - P&L, unit economics, capex envelope, ramp curves
- Stress-test market-entry proposals and translate them into rigorous, decision-ready business cases
- Build the consolidated expansion view of GSM's portfolio P&L
- Competitive intelligence
- Maintain a strategic view of the global mobility and adjacent-industry competitive landscape
- Brief senior leadership on competitive moves and structural shifts that affect sequencing, positioning, or strategic priorities
- Team leadership
- Hire and lead the Strategy team (Managers and Analysts); scale over time as workload demands
- Set the team's analytical standards, output quality, and engagement scoping discipline
- Be the Deputy CEO's go-to strategy partner - shaping decisions, not just executing briefs
- Stakeholder management
- Work across functions and geographies - partner with multiple internal teams and external stakeholders to translate strategy into executable launch plans
- Connect the central strategic view with on-the-ground reality across diverse markets
- Support the Deputy CEO with executive-level materials and analyses
- Who you are

- Your modelling instinct is sharp - you can size an opportunity, build a P&L from first principles, and stress-test someone else's plan in the same week.

- You can read a P&L, find the levers that move it, and explain why a business model works (or doesn't) without jargon.
- You see real connections between adjacent businesses - where the synergies are genuine and where they're wishful thinking - and you're as comfortable with the unit economics of a single transaction as with the consolidated view of a multi-line business.

- Your writing is sharp, your decks are clean, your verbal storytelling lands.
- You can explain a complex strategic call to a non-specialist in two minutes and to senior leadership in twenty.

- You've worked across multiple regions, you read context quickly, and you'd rather get smarter from the local team than try to tell them what their market looks like.
- **You lead teams well.**
- You know how to hire, coach, and set quality standards from a standing start.
- **You're a builder.**
- You don't need a fully-formed playbook; you'd rather write one.
- You're energised by ambiguity and frustrated by bureaucracy.
- What you bring
- **Strong financial modelling and analytical toolkit**
- P&L from first principles, unit economics, market sizing, primary research
- **Business-model fluency across multiple revenue streams**
- you've built cases for businesses with more than one product or revenue line and understand how to find (and pressure-test) synergies between them
- **International experience**
- you've worked across multiple regions and markets, not a single home base
- **Track record of leading multi-stream work**
- projects with multiple workstreams and stakeholders, not just individual analysis
- **English fluency**
- as the working language
- **Willingness to be based in our regional hub**
- and travel across diverse international markets

- **Multi-market / international expansion experience**

• French, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian
- Familiarity with operating in emerging-market regulatory environments
- Comfortable using modern data and AI tools to compress analysis cycles
