Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for a Steel Detailer at SSP-Engineers.
The Steel Detailer will prepare accurate 3D models and detailed 2D fabrication and erection drawings for structural steel projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards.
Day-to-day work includes interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, developing connection details, generating material take-off lists, and producing CNC and related fabrication data.
The role involves coordinating with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to clarify design requirements, resolve detailing issues, and maintain drawing quality and consistency.
The Steel Detailer will also review and revise drawings based on feedback, support quality checks, and help meet project schedules and deliverable deadlines.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in steel detailing software (e.g., Tekla Structures, SDS/2, Advance Steel, or similar) and CAD tools for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
- Solid understanding of structural steel design and fabrication practices, including connection detailing, shop drawing standards, and erection sequencing.
- Experience working with relevant international codes and standards (e.g., AISC, CISC, BS, IS codes, OSHA) and applying them to detailing work.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy in dimensions and quantities, and ability to produce clear, organized drawings and documentation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with remote teams, engineers, and project managers across different time zones.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
- Prior experience in industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects (e.g., plants, bridges, buildings) is highly beneficial.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in steel detailing.
