Responsibilities

  • Own the overarching architecture, interfaces, and data models across multiple services.
  • Define the technical roadmap, identifying scalability bottlenecks, architectural risks, and structural tech debt before they impact velocity or reliability.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to individual project/stream tech leads (typically mid-level and executive engineers), ensuring localized technical decisions do not conflict with organizations wide goals.
  • Identify cross-team architectural and technical dependencies, resolve conflicting technical priorities, and eliminate single points of failure.
  • Write code for high-risk proof-of-concepts, shared foundational libraries, or critical-path components while delegating day-to-day feature implementation to Development teams.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in Java.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with system architecture and leading cross-functional engineering projects.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience building or scaling distributed systems handling massive datasets (petabyte-scale).
