The Role
The frontend codebase contains approximately 690,000 lines of TypeScript and React across about 2,250 files.
The product includes a workflow builder, document viewer, large data grids, chat assistant, and live views of agents running for minutes.
The role owns frontend direction while the product continues to ship, including architecture, consistency, performance, and engineering standards.
What You Will Own
- Own frontend architecture and stack decisions covering state, data fetching, routing, module boundaries, and build tooling.
- Choose and establish a unified component system, migrate the product onto it, and create controls that preserve consistency.
- Own measurable frontend performance improvements using bundle budgets, Lighthouse in CI, real-user vitals, and Sentry data.
- Partner with designers as a peer on layout, density, motion, hierarchy, and product quality.
- Design typed boundaries, lint rules, visual regression tests, and fast feedback loops for agent-written code.
- Review frontend changes, mentor engineers, and maintain standards across India and the United States.
- Design interaction patterns for agents that stream partial results over several minutes.
Current Frontend Stack
- The current frontend stack includes React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind, Radix, TanStack Query, and Bun.
- The codebase includes approximately 90 shared primitives and 231 Storybook stories.
- Performance tooling includes bundle budgets, Lighthouse in CI, real-user vitals, and a Sentry digest.
What We Are Looking For
- At least 8 years of production frontend development experience with deep React and TypeScript expertise.
- Experience owning a frontend codebase across architecture, build tooling, component systems, test strategy, and release safety.
- Demonstrated practice improving a measurable performance metric.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to explain what is wrong with an interface and why.
- Ability to evaluate coding-agent output critically and build safeguards for agent-written code.
- Clear written communication for decisions made across time zones.
- Experience with design systems, data-dense or document-heavy products, early-stage work, B2B SaaS, or LLM-backed interfaces is a bonus.
Location and Hours
- The role is remote in India, with Bangalore preferred, and is open countrywide.
- The role overlaps with San Francisco-based colleagues approximately from 9 PM to 2 AM India Standard Time.
- Working hours outside the overlap window are flexible.
