Role overview

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support to UKG Scheduling engineering teams.
• Develop and communicate architecture aligned with organizational goals and product-suite needs; clarify requirements and ensure fit-for-purpose designs.
• Develop technical roadmaps and ensure services meet architecture guidelines and standards.
• Review code for design integrity and cost-effective, straightforward implementation.
• Collaborate with developers, operations, product managers, peers, and technical leaders; gather requirements and define constraints and guidelines.
• Define and enforce CI/CD standards, development methodologies, and quality assurance processes.
• Identify and mitigate architecture risks; promote observability, proactive alerting, rapid recovery, and service resilience.
• Use AI tools to improve engineering productivity and identify value-adding user features.
• Document and maintain product and service architecture.
• Evaluate technology trends and develop cross-product, multi-year architecture visions and innovation opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of software development experience in a fast-paced environment, across all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Proven experience as a lead software developer or similar, driving architecture and implementation of complex software solutions.
• Extensive design portfolio and Java-based development experience for SaaS and multi-tenant systems.
• Experience with Datadog or Grafana for production monitoring and modern cloud technology such as GCP, AWS, Azure, or Kubernetes.
• Experience designing reliable, scalable, secure, decoupled cloud solutions and working with CI/CD.
• Experience in detailed analysis, feasibility studies, performance analysis, prototyping, and multiplatform software development.
• Experience with object-oriented programming, service-oriented architecture, and design patterns.
• Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Automated testing and modern quality practices are preferred.
• Additional experience listed: AI/ML; analytics such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Tableau, or Looker; messaging and streaming such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Apache Beam, or Spark.
