Teradata seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead design and development of AI-enabled product experiences, drive technical architecture, build scalable systems, and advance AI-assisted engineering.
The role is on the Cloud Platform Core Services Engineering Team, developing multi-cloud infrastructure services for Teradata analytics on public cloud platforms.
The position reports to a Senior Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud services managing infrastructure and control planes across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, management, and monitoring of Teradata Cloud services, sites, and offerings.
- Develop threat models to secure cloud platform services and meet compliance standards.
- Drive AI-accelerated development, convert AI-generated prototypes into production systems, and build AI-powered features and agent-based workflows using LLMs.
- Develop AI agents from ideation and prototyping through production release, and operationalize them with deployment pipelines, containers, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Work with UX, product management, and platform engineering teams on product ideas and technical designs.
- Promote maintainable code, usability patterns, code style, integration, testing, code review, and detailed design and architecture reviews.
Minimum requirements
- Graduate or bachelor's degree in computer science.
- At least 8 years of hands-on software development experience and 5 years designing, building, and operating distributed complex systems on Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure.
- Experience with DevOps software development methods and strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis.
- Proficiency in at least one modern general-purpose programming language such as Go or Python.
- Experience in full-stack development, RESTful services, and familiarity with Teradata or other TDMS NoSQL/SQL database concepts.
- Experience with Docker technologies, Kubernetes management or service development, and mission-critical 24x7 systems.
- Experience influencing software engineering best practices and scripting with languages such as Go, Python, or Shell.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud infrastructure, including architecture for services operating at scale.
- Hands-on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud networking experience, including VPCs, ACLs, subnets, peering, DNS, and firewalls.
- AWS infrastructure as code experience with CloudFormation or Terraform.
Additional relevant experience
- Experience with AI agents, deployment pipelines, containerization, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with cloud networking and infrastructure automation.
