The role is on the Cloud Platform Core Services Engineering Team, building multicloud infrastructure services for Teradata analytics on public cloud platforms.

The position reports to a Senior Engineering Manager.

Role overview

Staff Software Engineer role focused on designing and developing AI-enabled product experiences and scalable cloud systems.

The engineer will lead technical architecture across the stack and help establish modern development practices using AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Cloud platform and security

  • Design and implement cloud services for infrastructure and control planes on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, management, and monitoring of Teradata Cloud services, sites, and offerings.
  • Develop threat models to secure cloud platform services and meet compliance standards.

AI engineering and collaboration

  • Drive adoption of AI-accelerated development, converting AI-generated prototypes into production-ready systems.
  • Design AI-powered features and agent workflows using LLM technologies; develop agents through production release.
  • Operationalize AI agents with deployment pipelines, containerization, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with UX, product management, and platform teams on product ideas and technical designs.
  • Follow maintainable coding practices for usability, style, integration, testing, and code review; review designs, architecture, and code.

Minimum qualifications

  • Requires a graduate or bachelor's degree in computer science and at least 8 years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Requires at least 5 years designing, building, and operating distributed complex software systems on Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure.
  • Requires DevOps methods, computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms, and proficiency in at least one modern language such as Go or Python.

Additional experience

  • Additional experience listed includes full-stack development, RESTful services, and Teradata or other TDMS SQL/NoSQL database concepts.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, and experience supporting mission-critical 24x7 systems are listed.
  • Scripting with Go, Python, or Shell and cloud networking knowledge, including VPCs, ACLs, subnets, peering, DNS, and firewalls, are listed.
  • Cloud infrastructure-as-code experience with CloudFormation or Terraform is listed.
  • Experience influencing engineering practices and creating cloud services that serve businesses or the public at scale is listed.
