The RMM Backend team seeks a Senior Staff Software Development Engineer in Test to build and maintain automated testing for an endpoint management platform.
This hands-on engineering role validates system software, endpoint agents, device management workflows, and operating system integrations.
The engineer will build reusable automation across operating systems and thousands of endpoint scenarios, using AI-assisted tools to accelerate coverage and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain endpoint-agent automation frameworks and reusable test libraries for Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile platforms.
- Automate functional, integration, regression, performance, resiliency, and system-level tests for endpoint management features and workflows.
- Validate upgrades, recovery, disconnected operation, self-healing, operating system integrations, security frameworks, and device management APIs.
- Build large-scale release regression suites and validate agent stability, performance, resource use, and security.
- Troubleshoot defects using logs, debugging, telemetry, and diagnostics; reproduce customer issues and partner on root-cause analysis.
- Use AI tools for automation assets, test generation, code analysis, debugging, and coverage expansion; validate generated tests using engineering practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on software engineering, SDET, DevTest, or QA automation experience.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Kotlin, C#, or a similar language, and experience building automation frameworks and test infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of at least one of Windows, macOS, or Linux, including operating system internals, security models, and privilege management.
- Experience testing endpoint agents, system software, security software, or device management products; strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Experience with virtualization and automated device provisioning.
- Exposure to Microsoft Intune, Apple MDM, Android Enterprise, or Linux device management is beneficial.
- Familiarity with PowerShell, Bash, Python, and operating system scripting technologies is beneficial.
