Staff Engineer

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, building and operating production software systems, APIs or platforms in cloud environments.
• A track record of staff-level technical leadership, including shaping architecture, setting direction, evolving platforms and influencing outcomes beyond a single team or implementation.
• Strong architectural judgement across secure coding, CI/CD, testing, observability, incident response, resilience, performance and cost.
• The ability to connect technical roadmaps and engineering investment to customer value, commercial outcomes and broader product strategy.
• Experience making pragmatic prioritisation decisions when technical quality, product needs, risk and delivery commitments compete, and keeping delivery sustainable over time.
• Strong cross-functional influencing and communication skills, including the ability to state a clear point of view, negotiate priorities, make decisions visible and create alignment without hierarchy.
• Experience increasing team and organisational leverage through standards, guidance, governance, documentation, communities of practice, presentations, coaching, pairing or other repeatable mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and agentic workflows, with evidence of improving engineering productivity or software quality through safe, measurable and practical adoption.
• Experience delivering LLM-powered applications, agents or workflows in production, or demonstrable equivalent judgement around quality, safety, human oversight and operational risk.
• A strong learning mindset, curiosity about emerging technologies and a habit of sharing practical insights with the wider engineering community.
• The ability to remain hands-on while operating across domains and avoiding an overly narrow focus on a particular stack or implementation.
