Join a small founding engineering team building greenfield payments and billing infrastructure for software companies.

This is a senior individual contributor role with high autonomy and significant influence over architecture and engineering standards.
What You Will Build
- Build payment and billing infrastructure, pricing and subscription logic, APIs, integrations, and transaction-processing systems.
- Design distributed systems, service architecture, reliability, performance, observability, and data flows across payments, customers, and products.
- Make decisions about service boundaries, domain models, API design, event-driven processing, consistency, and scalable system simplicity.
- Take unclear engineering problems from definition through production while writing substantial production code.
What We Are Looking For
- Operate at Staff, Principal, Lead, or senior Founding Engineer level, even if your current title differs.
- Have designed and built complex backend systems and made architecture decisions affecting multiple services or teams.
- Bring strong Java and JVM experience plus experience with distributed systems, APIs, and modern cloud infrastructure.
- Have built systems where reliability and correctness matter and can operate with incomplete or changing requirements.
- Take ownership from problem definition through production and influence technical direction without formal management authority.
Relevant Background
- Payments, billing, financial infrastructure, ledgers, transaction systems, or similarly complex platforms are particularly relevant.
- Strong SaaS, fintech, infrastructure, or platform engineering backgrounds may also fit when the systems problems are comparable.
