Staff - Durability/Reliability Test Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute vehicle reliability and durability test programs, including on-road and proving-ground assessments.
• Coordinate vehicle preparation, instrumentation, and test setup activities.
• Monitor vehicle performance, identify failures or abnormal behavior, and support root-cause analysis.
• Analyze test data and prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations for senior management.
• Track test progress against project timelines and validation standards.
• Meet with local and global stakeholders to align test objectives and resolve issues.
• Manage test vehicles, spare parts, and documentation through the validation cycle.
• Support benchmarking and validation of new products and technologies.
• Work with design, quality, and supplier teams to address component and system issues.
• Travel to sites and customer locations to conduct testing as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• 3–10 years of experience in vehicle testing, durability, reliability, or validation.
• Good understanding of commercial vehicle chassis, suspension, braking, powertrain, steering, and body structures.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.
• Willingness to travel for testing activities.
• Familiarity with tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANape, Diadem, or MATLAB.
• Experience working with cross-functional and international engineering teams.
• Technical curiosity, a hands-on approach, and a strong ownership mindset.

Work location and schedule

• The listed role location is Chennai, India.
• The role involves on-road and proving-ground testing and travel to sites and customer locations.
• Working hours are full time.
