Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Deliver reusable automation solutions and reliability frameworks to reduce operational burden.
• Automate toil, develop internal tools, and measure toil-reduction goals.
• Identify automation opportunities and promote reusable tooling and production engineering standards.
• Maintain and prioritize the production engineering backlog using Jira.
• Review service architecture and production readiness; advise developers on reliability practices.
• Build utilities, scripts, and templates that reduce manual production support.
• Collaborate in the Services Production Engineering Forum to share knowledge and resolve common challenges.

Qualifications

• Experience in SRE or engineering focused on automation, resiliency, and tooling.
• Proficiency in one or more scripting or automation languages, such as Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible, or YAML.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows, Agile delivery, and reliability integration into development pipelines.
• Familiarity with capacity planning, telemetry, and production-data-led service improvements.
• Experience supporting or developing tools across on-premises, cloud, and container platforms such as ECS or Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Technical knowledge and skills

• Foundational AI/ML knowledge, including machine-learning models, NLP, and data pipelines.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform and monitoring tools such as Splunk, ITRS, Grafana, GCO, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
• Knowledge of SRE principles, system reliability, availability, and stability practices.
• Experience with issue-tracking and problem-management tools.
• Clear written and verbal communication; curiosity, adaptability, and an interest in continuous learning.
