Team and Role

The Unified Employee Experience team builds Employee Slate, Employee Center, and Employee Center Pro for enterprise employees across web and mobile.

This is a frontend architecture role responsible for the platform and framework used by feature teams, with end-to-end ownership of experience performance.

The team seeks someone who has built and owned a frontend platform at scale, not only features built on top of one.

Role Responsibilities

  • Own the frontend platform and framework architecture, technical direction, and roadmap.
  • Design modular, reusable component systems with extensibility, versioning, and broad team adoption.
  • Own frontend performance as the product and customer base grow.
  • Drive complex cross-team initiatives and resolve architectural conflicts independently.
  • Lead architecture and code reviews, mentor senior engineers, and raise frontend standards.
  • Handle escalations for difficult frontend production issues.
  • Set guardrails for AI-assisted development and partner with product and design to shape solutions.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of software engineering experience, mostly building web frontends and frontend platforms.
  • Deep JavaScript and TypeScript expertise plus advanced data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
  • Advanced experience with component-based UI frameworks and web components, such as Lit, React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Track record creating framework-level abstractions used by other engineering teams.
  • Deep production frontend performance profiling and optimization experience at scale.
  • Staff or Principal-level individual-contributor scope, including architecture ownership and cross-team initiatives.
  • Working proficiency in a server-side language such as Java, Node.js, Python, or Go.
  • Experience considering or using AI in work processes; exposure to AI- or LLM-driven frontend capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and ability to explain architecture to technical and business audiences.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with design systems or component libraries adopted across multiple organizations is preferred.
  • Experience with frontend observability and real-user performance monitoring is preferred.
  • Familiarity with large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS platforms is preferred.
