Role overview
The Solutions Architect advises customers on realizing value from Couchbase through architectural guidance and hands-on professional services.
The role works with enterprise customer engineering teams on data challenges and AI-ready architectures from design through production.
Customer architecture and delivery
- Lead short- to medium-term on-site and remote engagements covering architecture and use-case reviews, sizing, performance tuning, and deployment topology planning.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges with customers from initial design through production operations, escalating when necessary.
- Support implementation phases including installation, topology planning, and operational best practices.
AI and platform solutions
- Help customers implement AI solutions and data-platform best practices using Couchbase indexing, SQL++, Full-Text Search, Vector Search, and Columnar technologies.
Advisory and collaboration
- Explain architectural concepts to developers, architects, and C-level managers as a technical product expert.
- Contribute to internal software development, benchmarking, and troubleshooting projects.
- Partner with sales and pre-sales on technical escalations and growth opportunities within existing accounts.
- Write reference architectures, whitepapers, and best-practice guides for internal and external audiences.
Experience and technical qualifications
- 5+ years of enterprise back-end software consulting experience focused on SQL, NoSQL, or distributed databases.
- 2+ years working with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Strong foundation in application design and development; familiarity with traditional RDBMS schema modeling and configuration.
- Experience engaging with developers and using AI-assisted development or evaluation techniques such as Gemini or Claude.
- A rigorous troubleshooting approach and record of resolving complex end-to-end technical issues.
Communication and education
- Strong presentation and communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
- Fluency in English is required.
