Maximize sales volume, minimize stale products, achieve distribution targets, implement merchandising standards, collect accounts receivable, and maintain customer service.
Provide the supervisor with current market information to identify sales opportunities.
Follow operating procedures and attend training and daily supervisor debriefings.
Principal accountabilities
- Sell the full product range to assigned customers against agreed targets and keep stale products below the agreed target.
- Serve customers according to approved standards, visit frequency, and daily route plans.
- Conduct daily and weekly vehicle checks, maintain a clean and roadworthy vehicle, and promptly report defects or damage.
- Supply ready-to-ship customer orders on time with delivery arrangements documented.
- Maintain customer stock levels to agreed requirements and minimize out-of-stock problems.
- Implement agreed in-store merchandising and coordinate additional merchandiser support with the supervisor.
- Report competitor activity in the assigned area.
- Reconcile cash, cheques, and credit sales daily.
- Maintain professional grooming and safe driving standards.
- Attend training courses and complete a daily supervisor debriefing.
- Performance is measured against key performance indicators; failure to deliver consistently may lead to disciplinary action.
Experience and competencies
- Diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience in sales and account building.
- Communication, negotiation, conflict management, and sales planning skills.
- Basic accounting skills.
