Provide specialist MEP cost management across Ellington’s development portfolio, particularly during design and pre-contract stages.
Responsibilities
- Review MEP cost plans, estimates, and pricing from concept through pre-tender stages.
- Review MEP BOQs against drawings and specifications to identify scope gaps, discrepancies, duplication, and cost exposure.
- Evaluate value engineering opportunities across MEP systems, materials, specifications, and construction methods.
- Monitor design development against budgets and flag cost movements, risks, and variances.
- Analyze rates and benchmark costs against projects, historical data, and UAE market rates.
- Coordinate cost and scope queries with consultants and Development, Design, and Procurement teams.
- Reflect approved value engineering and design changes in cost plans and BOQs.
- Support tender analysis and commercial reviews with specialist MEP input.
- Develop internal cost benchmarks, standard specifications, and portfolio cost optimization initiatives.
Candidate requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least eight years of relevant experience; approximately ten years or more is preferred.
- Strong background in a cost consultancy, developer, or similar commercial environment.
- Experience in MEP estimating, cost planning, BOQ preparation and review, rate analysis, and value engineering.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and associated construction methodologies.
- Knowledge of current UAE construction costs, supply chains, and market rates.
- Strong analytical and numerical capability and advanced Excel skills.
- Clear communication with consultants, project teams, and senior management.
- UAE building project experience is strongly preferred.
