The Senior Mechanical Engineer – MEP manages mechanical scope on MEP projects, from technical review and site execution through testing, commissioning, and handover.
The role requires extensive experience with MEP contracting companies in the UAE and coordination across project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering work through design review, execution, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Review IFC and shop drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, material submittals, and related documentation.
- Ensure work follows approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and authority requirements.
- Oversee HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, drainage, and fire-fighting system installation and execution.
- Coordinate technical and site requirements with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Supervise site activities and monitor progress, quality, and safety.
- Resolve technical and coordination issues to avoid delays and rework.
- Prepare and review method statements, technical proposals, RFIs, material requirements, and progress reports.
- Coordinate procurement specifications, material requirements, approvals, and delivery priorities.
- Monitor schedules, manpower, material availability, and work progress.
- Attend technical, coordination, and progress meetings.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, inspections, snag rectification, and project handover.
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience with MEP contracting companies in the UAE.
- Hands-on experience in HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, drainage, and fire-fighting systems.
- Knowledge of MEP construction practices, technical drawings, material submittals, method statements, and testing and commissioning procedures.
- Understanding of applicable UAE authority requirements, codes, and international engineering standards.
- Experience in site execution, project coordination, and mechanical project delivery.
- Leadership, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary project stakeholders and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Must be willing to work and relocate to project locations across any Emirate in the UAE.
