What You’ll Do
Set the strategy, governance, roadmap, and success measures for Scopely’s North America benefits portfolio.
Evaluate U.S. health plan funding strategies, including self-insurance feasibility. Model costs, claims, stop-loss, risk, TPA/PBM and carrier options, reserves, and cash flow; present a recommendation to People and Finance leadership. If approved, lead the implementation roadmap.
Oversee health and welfare, retirement and savings, leave, disability, wellbeing, and statutory programs across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This includes Canadian provincial health coordination and supplemental coverage, and Mexican IMSS-related obligations and statutory benefits.
Lead renewals and enrollment across all three countries, including plan design, broker and carrier negotiations, stakeholder alignment, employee communications, and post-enrollment analysis.
Own benefits budgets, forecasts, and cost management. Prepare leadership-ready analysis on claims, cost trends, utilization, risk, employee impact, vendor performance, and investment tradeoffs.
Ensure programs, policies, documentation, and vendor processes are compliant, controlled, audit-ready, and scalable across U.S. federal, state, and local requirements; Canadian federal and provincial requirements; and Mexican labor and social security requirements.
Oversee leave, disability, statutory leave, and return-to-work processes, coordinating across employees, managers, People partners, Payroll, and providers.
Strengthen service delivery through better processes, systems, vendor partnerships, operating rhythms, and employee self-service. Identify responsible uses of AI, automation, and analytics to improve operations and decision-making.
Partner with the global People team to share North America practices and support acquisitions, entity changes, and market expansion through due diligence, integration, harmonization, and employee communications.
Coach and mentor Benefits and People Ops team members, set priorities, and build team capability while executing alongside them.
What We’re Looking For
Significant experience leading benefits programs at a mid-to-large employer, including strategy, plan design, renewals, vendor and broker management, employee communications, and wellbeing.
Direct experience evaluating or implementing self-insured or level-funded health plans, with a strong understanding of fully insured and self-insured tradeoffs, including stop-loss, claims funding, reserves, TPA/PBM arrangements, and risk.
Strong working knowledge of U.S. benefits requirements, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, state paid leave and paid family leave programs, nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500, and applicable state and local requirements.
Working knowledge of Canadian benefits and leave requirements, including provincial variation and Quebec, and Mexican requirements, including IMSS, Infonavit, year-end and vacation-related payments, profit sharing, and statutory benefits—or the ability to ramp up quickly and manage local advisors and vendors.
Experience supporting benefits across multiple countries and balancing consistent principles with local market practices. Experience outside North America is valued.
Ability to balance strategic ownership with hands-on execution, manage cross-functional work, make sound recommendations, and coach and develop team members.
