Role overview

Essential functions

• Define requirements and acceptance criteria with business systems analysts and developers; identify system impacts and requirement gaps.
• Determine test scope, including integration and regression, and apply test techniques to ensure coverage.
• Build robust automated tests with development teams, from unit and integration tests to user-journey tests.
• Identify test data needs and create and maintain test data.
• Conduct ongoing exploratory and manual testing across user stories and system layers, including web services and user interfaces.
• Check screen, file, and database outputs to verify system effectiveness.
• Establish test strategies for non-functional areas such as performance and load.
• Promote quality standards and improved practices; review team outputs to maintain standards.
• Demonstrate functionality and user stories to product owners or in team showcases; provide input on story estimates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience and five or more years in a QA or testing technical role.
• Proven experience testing software in a structured environment and experience with the defect lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of test levels from unit testing through UAT and cohesive test strategy.
• Sound understanding of application servers, databases, web services, and basic programming constructs.
• Experience with one or more test frameworks and scripting automated functional tests.
• Experience with user stories, acceptance criteria, API testing, and microservices testing.
• AWS experience is preferred; GitHub Copilot test-case creation experience is preferred.
• Accessibility and security testing experience are value-adds.
