About the Role

Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for tasks like transformer installation, cable pulling, and switchyard gantry erection
- Manage and audit the Permit to Work (PTW) system
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure equipment is de energized
- Ensure all tools and PPE meet voltage requirements and are properly tested
- Verify that temporary grounding is correctly applied during construction
- Oversee shoring and underground utility detection for excavation safety
- Conduct site specific safety orientations for all contractors and visitors
- Lead daily toolbox talks focusing on high risk activities
- Lead root cause analysis for near misses or accidents and implement corrective actions
Requirements
- Experience in site inspections and risk management for substation projects
- Knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Familiarity with electrical safety, grounding, and excavation safety
- Ability to conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks
- Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis

Site Inspections & Risk Management
- Conduct detailed Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for tasks like transformer installation, cable pulling, and switchyard gantry erection.
- Manage and audit the Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring all personnel have proper authorization before entering energized zones.
- Strictly enforce LOTO procedures to ensure equipment is de energized and safe for maintenance or installation.
Technical Safety Oversight
- Ensure all tools and PPE (Arc rated clothing, insulated gloves) meet voltage requirements and are properly tested.
- Verify that temporary grounding is correctly applied during construction to prevent accidental energization.
- Oversee shoring and underground utility detection for excavation safety in substation projects.
Training & Compliance
- Conduct site specific safety orientations for all contractors and visitors.
- Lead daily toolbox talks focusing on high risk activities scheduled for the day.
- Lead root cause analysis for any near misses or accidents and implement corrective actions.
