Sr Director Analyst, AI Agent, Context and Platform Engineering - Remote UK

Role overview

What you will do

• Develop thought-leading research and collaborate with teammates, analysts, and research communities.
• Advise clients on strategic and tactical technology challenges and on architecting, implementing, and operating relevant engineering solutions.
• Present at Gartner events, respond to press inquiries, and speak at industry events.
• Support Gartner sales with client visits and consultation; contribute to research and agenda planning.

Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience; bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Graduate degree is preferred.
• Practitioner-level AI agent, context, and platform engineering expertise, with hands-on technical knowledge and experience.
• Expertise designing, building, and operating AI agents through agentic harnesses, agent builder platforms, or custom SDK approaches.
• Expertise implementing, operating, and governing platform engineering and context management solutions.
• Experience building and scaling resilient AI-ready or cloud-native applications, including microservices and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience enabling developer self-service through portals and applying AI to platform delivery or platform capabilities.
• Experience using observability and monitoring to improve performance, reliability, resilience, and security.
• Excellent writing, research, analytical, and presentation skills, including to audiences of 500 or more.

Tools and additional experience

• Infrastructure as Code tools may include Terraform, AWS CDK/CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Red Hat Ansible, Pulumi, or Crossplane.
• GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, GitLab, Atlassian, and Harness experience is a plus.
• Hands-on AI gateway or MCP deployment is a plus; experience with Backstage, OpsLevel, Cortex, Port, or similar developer portals is an additional enhancement.
