The Opportunity

The Senior Director of AI Development reports to a VP and leads the people and engineering programs that deliver AI solutions.

The role partners with product and architecture leaders on AI applications, cloud and platform programs, and enterprise capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering execution across teams, with accountability for milestones, quality, reliability, customer outcomes, and early risk management.
  • Hire and develop engineering managers and technical leaders.
  • Shape roadmaps, manage capacity and dependencies, and make priority and investment decisions.
  • Lead AI solutions, cloud services, platforms, tools, and shared primitives for enterprise applications.
  • Guide incubation from experiments and customer validation through decisions and supported capabilities.
  • Set shared-service adoption practices, including documentation, release readiness, support ownership, and consumer feedback.
  • Guide technical discussion and AI experimentation, build business partnerships, and report progress to executives.

What It Takes

  • 12 or more years in software engineering or related disciplines, delivering complex products and programs through managers and technical leaders.
  • Proven people leadership, including developing managers, building technical capability, and improving execution.
  • Enterprise software experience leading platform or cloud programs is highly desirable.
  • Experience guiding an applied AI initiative from experimentation and technical decisions into delivery or adoption.
  • Current understanding of applied AI, agent patterns, model choices, context, orchestration, evaluation, and development challenges.
  • Hands-on AI exploration, experimentation, or development, with ability to discuss learnings and their leadership implications.
  • Sound judgment on AI quality, reliability, security, cost, and operational readiness.
  • Strong product partnership, cross-business collaboration, and executive communication skills.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
