About This Role
Job Purpose
The Sport Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day delivery of cycling and infield sports programming at Velodrome Abu Dhabi.
This includes programme scheduling, session coordination, participant engagement, equipment readiness, and administrative support to ensure smooth and efficient sport operations.
The role involves handling routine operational decisions related to sport programme delivery and participant experience, in close coordination with the Sports Manager.
The Sport Coordinator also works closely with the Head Coach to ensure appropriate coach assignment for sessions and events, ensuring coaching resources are aligned with programme requirements and participant needs.
In addition, the role supports coordination between sport delivery functions and broader venue operations, ensuring seamless integration across all departments and contributing to the overall success of the venue’s sport programmes.
1. Programme Coordination & Delivery
- Coordinate day-to-day sport programme operations across cycling and infield sports
- Support logistical execution of sport activities and programming schedules
- Ensure smooth delivery of sessions across all sport disciplines
- Support coordination of leagues, tournaments, and recreational activities
2. Booking & Scheduling Management
- Manage booking systems, session scheduling, and sports calendars
- Coordinate court, cycling, and facility bookings
- Ensure accurate scheduling of programmes and activities
- Support adjustments and updates to programme timetables
3. Participant Engagement & Experience
- Handle participant inquiries and sport-related requests
- Support participant journey across sport programmes
- Maintain CRM records related to participants and activities
- Ensure positive customer experience across all sport services
4. Equipment & Facility Coordination
- Ensure readiness of sports equipment and cycling fleet for daily operations
- Coordinate with bike workshop and facility teams for equipment availability
- Monitor equipment condition and escalate maintenance requirements
- Support setup for sport sessions, events, and activities
5. Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain attendance records and programme participation data
- Ensure proper documentation of sport delivery activities
- Support compliance with health, safety, and operational requirements
- Assist in preparation of operational and programme reports
6. Cross-Team Coordination
- Coordinate with coaches, operations, FM, housekeeping, and event teams
- Support communication between Sports Management and delivery teams
- Ensure alignment between programme delivery and venue operations
- Act as liaison for cross-functional sport activity coordination
7. Event & Competition Support
- Support delivery of cycling competitions, tournaments, and sport events
- Assist in operational setup and coordination of events
- Support adapted sport programme delivery
- Coordinate participant flow and logistics during events
8. Safeguarding & Health & Safety
- Ensure adherence to safeguarding and health & safety procedures
- Support reporting and escalation of incidents when required
- Maintain safe sport environments for participants and staff
- Escalate safeguarding concerns to Head Coach or Sports Manager
9. Administrative & Operational Support
- Support recruitment onboarding and induction processes for sport staff
- Maintain operational trackers and system updates
- Assist in documentation and reporting tasks as required
- Support duty manager coverage when assigned
10. Additional Responsibilities
- Support commercial success through programme efficiency and participant engagement
- Maintain professional development and relevant certifications
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Support evolving operational needs of the venue
Essential
- Diploma or higher qualification in Sport Management, Sports Science, Recreation, Business Administration, or related field OR equivalent experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
Preferre
- d
- Willingness to obtain UCI Level 1 or equivalent coaching qualification
- Level 1 sport coaching, fitness instruction, or activity leadership certification
- Safeguarding certification or willingness to complete on appointment
Welcomed
- Bachelor’s degree in sport or related discipline
- Experience in multi-sport facility operations
Experience
- Minimum 2+ years in sport coordination, facility operations, or programme delivery
- Experience in multi-sport environments preferred
- Experience coordinating sport schedules, bookings, or events
- Experience working with diverse participant groups
- Familiarity with leagues, tournaments, or sport event delivery
- Experience in customer-facing sport or recreation roles
