Role Description
The Specification Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai.
This role focuses on developing detailed technical specifications for interior and exterior specialty finishing products across a variety of construction projects.
Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing architectural and engineering drawings, identifying project requirements, and aligning them with Opus products and systems.
The Specification Engineer collaborates closely with architects, designers, contractors, and the sales team to prepare compliant specifications, technical submittals, and method statements.
The role also involves providing technical support during design and construction phases, coordinating with manufacturers for product data, and ensuring specifications meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
The position requires accurate documentation, timely responses to consultants and clients, and participation in presentations or technical meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of construction materials and systems, particularly interior and exterior specialty finishes (e.g., seating systems, acoustic panels, flooring, partitions, cladding).
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, project specifications, and relevant building codes or standards.
- Proficiency in preparing technical specifications, submittals, and method statements, with attention to detail and compliance requirements.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with architects, designers, contractors, and internal teams, including the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Relevant academic background such as a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a specification, technical support, or design role within the construction or building materials sector, preferably in the UAE or GCC region.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines on site.
- Proficiency with common office and design tools (e.g., MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software is an advantage).
- Knowledge of acoustic performance, seating layout design, flooring systems, and façade or cladding solutions is beneficial
