Specialist - Ophthalmology

Overview

• Ensures that Ophthalmological care rendered meets DoH standards.
• Monitors within established guidelines the quality of care provided. Participates in review/study of
• difficult and special cases.
• Monitors the eye care rendered on a daily basis to ensure that DoH Standards are met.
• Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of ophthalmology.
• Available for consultation after working hours
• Coordinates with the HOD in planning programs integrating the curative and preventive aspects of
• total patient care
• Participates in the implementation of approved curative/preventive programs as
• they relate to Ophthalmology.Takes an active role in teaching activities provided for nursing & ancillary staff.
• Participates in committees as requested by the Medical Director.
• Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to
• infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by the HOD.
• Participates in quality related activities programs as requested by the Medical Director.
• Orients new staff when requested to do so.
• Communicates regularly with HOD and other members of the service.

• At least 3 - 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)
• At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
• Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
• Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
• Eligibility for relevant healthcare authority registration e.g. Membership from Royal College / Arab Board Certification / MS / DM / MPhil or an equivalent recognised by relevant healthcare authority in UAE
