Specialist HSE Technical Engineer

Job Title: Specialist HSE Technical Engineer

KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi.

The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Client or Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi and later move to an ASIAN location for the FEED phase.

HSE Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical guidance on HSE policies, procedures, and standards across projects and operations.
  • Interpret and implement local, regional, and international HSE regulations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for process safety, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Risk Assessment & Management

  • Lead and participate in hazard identification studies (HAZID, HAZOP, JSA, etc.).
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Monitor critical risk controls and ensure effectiveness.

Compliance & Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with company HSE management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and certifications.
  • Track and close out audit findings and corrective actions.

Incident Management

  • Lead or support incident investigations using recognized methodologies (e.g., RCA, TapRooT).
  • Identify root causes and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze trends and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Training & Awareness

  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs and awareness campaigns.
  • Coach operational teams on safe work practices and risk mitigation.
  • Promote a strong HSE culture across the organization.

Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor HSE key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for management review.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives based on data insights.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Safety, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, or related discipline).
  • Professional HSE certifications preferred (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP).

Experience

  • 15-18 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in oil & gas, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong experience in process safety and risk management.
  • Experience in large-scale or high-risk operations is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and international standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Expertise in risk assessment techniques (HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, etc.).
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive safety culture.
