Job Scope
The Specialist - Data Governance is accountable for supporting projects and clients in ensuring that data is being used and managed in a way that is compliant, secure and beneficial to the organization.
S/He develops and implements policies and procedures for managing data and ensures that these policies are followed by all stakeholders within the organization
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Define and implement data governance frameworks and processes for data management such as data quality, data security and data lineage;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and design data governance processes accordingly;
- Define the main subject areas and data domains in the enterprise;
- Introduce stakeholder driven processes with roles and responsibilities;
- Identify and document data assets and their associated metadata, data lineage and data quality;
- Develop, implement and maintain data governance policies and procedures to ensure data is accurate, accessible and compliant with regulations;
- Identify and document data risks, sensitivity levels and classifications;
- Educate and train stakeholders on data governance to ensure compliance with related policies and procedures;
- Create and maintain data governance documentation including data dictionaries, data models and data lineage diagrams;
- Collaborate with other teams and departments such as compliance, IT and legal to ensure abidance to relevant regulations and laws;
- Monitor industry developments and regulations to ensure up to date and effective data governance processes.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any other related field
Experience
At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
