Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced Special Needs Nanny/Shadow Assistant, to provide dedicated care and support for a young child (3–4 years old) diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The candidate will be responsible for assisting with the child’s daily routine, developmental activities, communication support, behavioral guidance, and overall well-being in a safe and nurturing environment.
The candidate will be able to either work full time 12 hour days or stay in with the family.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive daily care and supervision for the child
- Support the child’s developmental, communication, and social skills
- Assist with therapy exercises and routines as advised by parents or therapists
- Engage the child in educational and sensory activities
- Maintain a structured and calming environment
- Monitor the child’s behavior and emotional needs with patience and understanding
- Assist with feeding, hygiene, dressing, and bedtime routines when required
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding the child’s progress and daily activities
Mandatory Requirements & Experience
- Previous proven experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is mandatory
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a special needs nanny, caregiver, therapist assistant, or similar role
- Experience caring for toddlers or young children aged 3–6 years old
- Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and sensory needs is preferred
- Basic understanding of speech support and developmental activities
- CPR and First Aid certification is an advantage
- Must be patient, caring, trustworthy, and able to handle challenging situations calmly
- Good communication skills in English
