Nursery Manager

Role Overview
As Nursery Manager, you will provide strong pedagogical leadership and play a key role in maintaining and improving standards across the nursery.
You will lead by example, support staff development, and ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and care in line with EYFS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Childcare and Education
- Maintain high standards of quality in the nursery environment, resources, and learning experiences
- Ensure all children receive stimulating and age-appropriate learning opportunities
- Ensure full compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Safeguard and ensure the welfare of all children
- Promote strong partnerships with parents, carers, and families
- Support inclusive practice and provision for children with additional needs
- Maintain professional relationships with regulatory bodies and external agencies
- Promote a culture of reflection, evaluation, and continuous improvement
- Health and Safety
- Oversee daily nursery operations ensuring a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures
- Maintain emergency and safeguarding procedures
- Ensure staff are appropriately trained, including first aid certification
- Finance and Operations
- Manage staffing costs in line with budget requirements
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and management information
- Monitor occupancy targets and support business growth
- Ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance
Staff Management
- Recruit, induct, train, and appraise nursery staff
- Develop a skilled and high-performing team
- Identify training needs and implement development plans
- Support HR processes including disciplinary and grievance procedures
- Promote a positive and professional working environment
Marketing and Customer Care
- Represent the nursery within the local community
- Promote the nursery to prospective and existing families
- Ensure high standards of communication and customer service
- Manage and resolve parent concerns in a timely and professional manner
General Duties
- Manage administrative responsibilities including records, inventory, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with company policies including equality and diversity
- Undertake any additional duties as required by management
Qualifications
and Requirements
• Previously SPEA-approved Nursery Manager (preferred)
- Attested Degree in Education
• CACHE Level 5 Certification
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience in an EYFS setting
- Minimum 3 years managerial experience in an EYFS setting
- Strong command of spoken and written English
