Job Summary

Avatara Restaurant is looking for a talented and passionate **Sous Chef / Junior Sous Chef – Bakery & Pastry** to lead and support the bakery and pastry operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in artisan baking, desserts, and pastry production, with the ability to manage a team, create innovative menu offerings, and maintain the highest standards of quality, consistency, and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Bakery & Pastry section, ensuring smooth production and service.
  • Prepare and present high-quality breads, viennoiserie, pastries, desserts, cakes, and other baked products.
  • Develop seasonal menus, new recipes, and innovative pastry concepts aligned with Avatara Restaurant's culinary standards.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior chefs and bakery staff to ensure consistency and skill development.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control.
  • Monitor inventory levels, manage food costs, minimize wastage, and coordinate ingredient ordering.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
  • Inspect and maintain bakery equipment, reporting any maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to enhance the guest dining experience.
  • Manage the Bakery & Pastry section independently in the absence of the Head Chef.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a **Sous Chef**, **Junior Sous Chef**, or Senior CDP in a Bakery & Pastry environment.
  • Strong expertise in artisan bread, laminated doughs, cakes, plated desserts, chocolates, and pastry production.
  • Experience in menu planning, recipe development, and cost control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, fine dining environment.
  • Culinary diploma or professional pastry qualification is preferred.
  • Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED5,500.00 per month
