Full-time, entry-level hybrid analyst/scientist/engineer role supporting laboratory operations, growth, and capabilities.
Works with technical teams including Interface, Workflow, Distributed Systems, Bioinformatics, and IT, and partners with laboratory, research, client, and business teams.
The role combines administration, analysis, science, engineering, project work, and interdisciplinary learning.
Role responsibilities
- Evaluates operational processes, builds solutions, develops algorithms, coordinates projects, and manages clinical genetic data.
- Supports laboratory operations, diagnostic services, new solutions, and cross-functional projects.
- May lead projects or contribute as a team member and solve business, scientific, or engineering problems.
- When capable and trained, advises departments on clinical standards and helps establish operational policies and procedures.
Knowledge and experience
- Minimum BA/BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Exceptional ability in learning, data analysis, creative thinking, computer science, mathematics, and statistics.
- Exceptional ability with JavaScript, Node.js, jQuery, CSS, HTML5, Java, Scala, Python, R, scripts, SQL, and PL/SQL.
- Exceptional ability with user interface design, computer architecture, and computer science.
- Experience with presentation tools, office software, project schedules, Git, Windows, and Linux.
- Experience manipulating JSON, XML, CSV, XLSX, and TXT data; understanding browser, hardware, and database limitations.
- Understanding of user behavior, project management, requirements analysis, process management, and transaction workflows.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in teams.
Additional helpful skills
- Helpful areas include data management, networks, security, computation, algorithms, bioinformatics, genetics, and biology.
- Helpful technologies include Oracle, SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, C/C++, mobile or other programming languages, Python, Bash, and regular expressions.
- Experience with large systems, big data, complex workflows, and business, operations, or marketing is helpful.
