Role overview

As a Solutions Architect in Field Engineering, partner with customers to design scalable data architectures using Databricks technology and services.

Engage technical leads and represent customer needs across Databricks, working with account executives and internal leadership.

The role covers Western Canada and reports to the Field Engineering Manager.

Impact and responsibilities

  • Develop account strategies with Sales and partners to grow platform usage.
  • Establish Databricks Lakehouse architecture as a standard through technical account planning.
  • Build and present reference architectures and demo applications for prospects.
  • Consult on big data architecture, data engineering pipelines, data science, and machine learning projects to establish technical wins.
  • Prove the technology in strategic projects and validate integrations with cloud and third-party applications.
  • Promote Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and Koalas through developer communities, meetups, conferences, and webinars.

What we look for

  • 7+ years in customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting, with expertise in at least one relevant technology area.
  • Relevant areas include big data engineering; data warehousing and ETL; data science and machine learning; or data applications.
  • Experience translating business needs into technology solutions and securing stakeholder buy-in.
  • Experience designing, architecting, and presenting customer data systems and managing production delivery.
  • Fluency in SQL and database technology.
  • Debugging and development experience in at least one of Python, Scala, Java, or R.
  • Travel to customers in the region up to 30% of the time.

Desired qualifications

  • Experience building solutions with AWS, Azure, or GCP is desired.
  • A degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Operations Research is desired.

Pay range

  • Canada pay range is CAD 185,000–CAD 225,000; compensation depends on job-related skills, experience, training, and work location.
  • Total compensation may include annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
