Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in geology, civil engineering, or related field is a plus
  • 0–2 years in construction, geotechnical, or environmental fieldwork; prior exposure to soil testing or materials inspection is desirable
  • ACI Concrete Certification
  • Familiarity with soil and concrete testing methods
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel; comfortable using tablets or digital reporting tools
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions and lifting equipment as needed
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols and ability to follow established procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with contractors, surveyors, and project managers
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites and adapt to changing schedules
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background check
  • $23 - $25

Responsibilities

  • Collect soil samples from various field sites using appropriate sampling techniques
  • Conduct field tests such as soil density, moisture content, and compaction
  • Perform laboratory tests, including grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, and soil classification
  • Record and analyze test data, ensuring accuracy and precision
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of test results
  • Maintain and calibrate field and laboratory equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and technical reports
  • Communicate findings and observations to the Project Manager/Supervisor
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs
