The Role
Gale is hiring its first full-time software engineer to build technology for the company.
The role focuses on AI-powered internal tools for immigration lawyers, including interfaces for complex legal workflows, process automation, and LLM integrations.
The engineer will have significant feature ownership and work directly with founders and the legal team.
Responsibilities
- Own features from scoping and technical design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
- Build tools to help immigration lawyers manage cases, process documents, and automate repetitive workflows.
- Develop frontend interfaces, backend services, APIs, and database integrations.
- Understand user workflows, identify product improvements, and incorporate feedback.
- Ship and iterate quickly while maintaining code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Contribute to architecture, development practices, and engineering processes.
Technology Stack
- The team primarily uses TypeScript, React, Postgres, and Effect TS.
- Prior experience with every listed technology is not required; engineers should be comfortable learning and working with the stack.
What Gale Is Looking For
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with TypeScript and modern web technologies.
- Ability to work across frontend and backend systems.
- Product-oriented mindset and interest in intuitive, well-designed software.
- Ability to take project ownership, work independently, and deliver with minimal oversight.
- Experience using coding agents such as Claude, Codex, or Cursor for development.
