Role overview
Individual-contributor Software Engineer role designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications and data platforms.
Partners with business and technology teams to deliver scalable, reliable, high-performance solutions; leads technical design and coordinates delivery across systems.
Software engineering responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support enterprise applications and services using Java, Spring Boot, and SQL.
- Build and optimize database queries, stored procedures, APIs, integrations, and distributed processing solutions.
- Contribute to architecture, technical design, engineering practices, code reviews, reusable components, and software quality.
- Troubleshoot production issues, investigate incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Improve observability with logging, monitoring, alerting, performance metrics, and dashboards.
- Design for resiliency, recovery, availability, and supportability; develop automated unit, integration, regression, and performance tests.
Data platform responsibilities
- Build and support reliable batch and real-time data pipelines.
- Implement data-quality checks, reconciliation, exception handling, lineage, and monitoring.
- Ensure data interfaces are traceable, supportable, and consistent with enterprise data standards.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot; advanced SQL, database design, and query optimization knowledge.
- Experience developing scalable enterprise-grade applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Additional skills and experience
- Python, REST or SOAP web services, Angular, Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Agile, CI/CD, automated deployment, environment configuration, and release-control experience are listed as additional qualifications.
- Capital markets or related platform experience is an asset.
