Location and Reporting
- The role is based in New York, NY with a hybrid work arrangement.
- The position reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to backend architecture, system design, and the server-side foundation.
- Work with leadership on customer-facing APIs, internal infrastructure, cloud services, and data models.
- Build resilient architectures supporting development from ideation through production.
- Develop backend infrastructure for providers, brokers, members, and employers.
- Design APIs, serverless services, and integrations for mobile and web applications.
- Write clean, high-performance, maintainable code.
- Coordinate with frontend, mobile, and other teams on API contracts and compliance.
- Tune performance, optimize databases, monitor systems, and deploy microservices.
- Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
- Apply security, authentication, encryption, and HIPAA-aware practices to sensitive data.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of full-time backend software development experience or equivalent relevant experience.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or demonstrable relevant experience.
- Experience with scalable backend services, microservices, and APIs.
- Understanding of SQL, NoSQL, database design, query optimization, data modeling, and caching.
- Knowledge of modern application architectures, cloud infrastructure, and serverless platforms.
- Experience with third-party integrations and message brokers or queues.
- Understanding of backend security practices such as OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting, and encryption.
- Experience with testing, scalable codebases, and CI/CD deployment automation.
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
