Responsibilities

• Create, design, code, debug, maintain, test, implement, and validate applications across the software life cycle.
• Analyze existing applications and formulate logic for new applications, including procedures, flowcharts, coding, and debugging.
• Develop deliverables and application implementation plans.
• Provide technical direction and engineering leadership; mentor junior engineers.
• Recommend development, maintenance, and system-standard changes.
• Contribute to new products and features, follow engineering processes, and maintain product quality.

Desired skills and capabilities

• Knowledge of Java, JVM fundamentals, object-oriented programming, data structures, collections, multithreading, Unix, and Spring.
• Knowledge of J2EE, SQL, application servers, cluster and fault-tolerance architecture, design patterns, and Java microservices.
• Experience with Spring Core, Spring Integration, Log4J, and RESTful web services.
• Strong Java skills, database design experience, and experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL.
• Prepaid/card application development is preferred; ActiveMQ or Kafka and Unix shell scripting are pluses.
• Exposure to Eclipse or IntelliJ and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or Grafana is noted.
• The role calls for a positive attitude, ability to handle multiple items, quick learning, and system or architectural design experience.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business/management information systems, or a related field.
• Typically at least 8 years of professional Java/J2EE coding, designing, developing, and analyzing experience.
• Preferred qualification lists 10 or more years of professional Java/J2EE application development experience.
