About the Role
Join Arco’s Back End Development team to build services for its next-generation digital platforms.
Work with Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, Cosmos DB and Microsoft Azure on scalable, reliable services.
The opportunity is full-time and permanent, available fully remote or on a hybrid basis; the hybrid office is in Hull.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain back-end services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot; develop GraphQL APIs and work with Cosmos DB and Azure services.
- Deliver features for the new ecommerce platform and build services for internal tools managing customer, product and other data.
- Work with front-end colleagues, business analysts and business users to understand requirements.
- Contribute to Agile planning, estimation and solution design; own changes from estimate through release.
- Write and maintain automated tests and support system integration and user acceptance testing.
- Take part in code reviews, investigate and resolve second-line support issues, document changes and share knowledge.
Ideal Candidate
- Good Java knowledge and practical development experience; experience with the Spring Framework.
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
- Experience building and consuming APIs using REST or GraphQL, and experience with Microsoft Azure or another cloud platform.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests; strong problem-solving and clear communication of technical issues to non-technical colleagues.
- Degree in computer science or a related subject, or equivalent experience developing business applications.
Advantageous Experience
- GraphQL experience is listed as an advantage and is not essential.
- Cosmos DB or other NoSQL database experience is advantageous.
- Ecommerce or B2B systems experience is advantageous.
- CI/CD pipelines, source control, Agile ways of working and tools such as Jira are mentioned as advantageous.
