Role overview

Talos is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for its Trading team during Summer 2027.

The intern will work on high-performance trading systems and tools supporting trading decision-making and performance evaluation.

The role involves building components that enhance algorithmic capabilities and adding features to existing infrastructure.

Workplace

  • The role is associated with Talos's London hub and its globally distributed engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, requirements, and milestones with the Trading team.
  • Prepare design documentation and participate in architecture discussions.
  • Build Go features for the Order Management System, which supports order-related trading decisions and best execution.
  • Add analytics and metrics to measure the impact of changes.
  • Incorporate feedback and iterate on features.
  • Demonstrate project progress through regular demos.

Qualifications

  • Be in the class of 2028 and pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Be proficient in at least one compiled language, such as Go, C++, or Java.
  • Have at least one previous internship involving backend systems in a production environment.
  • Have knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Past trading systems experience is a plus.
  • Be detail-oriented, self-driven, analytical, and enthusiastic about impactful projects.
  • Have strong communication skills and be able to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Be able to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Be energetic, creative, and able to manage tasks autonomously.
