About the opportunity

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable React Native apps for iOS and Android; build reusable components, screens, hooks, and shared modules.
• Translate business requirements into intuitive, accessible mobile experiences for customer and store journeys.
• Integrate REST APIs, WebSockets, authentication, push notifications, deep links, and platform services.
• Implement state management, caching, offline-aware behavior, forms, and error recovery.
• Collaborate across product, UX/UI, QA, backend, and platform teams to clarify requirements and deliver production-ready features.
• Optimize startup, rendering, memory, battery, network usage, and responsiveness across devices and OS versions.
• Write and maintain unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Support build, release, deployment, configuration, versioning, CI/CD, and app-store readiness.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design, Agile ceremonies, incident triage, and continuous improvement; contribute to mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Required experience and skills

• 5+ years of professional software development, including 3+ years building and shipping production React Native mobile applications.
• Strong JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript proficiency, modern React patterns, hooks, component composition, and asynchronous programming.
• Hands-on React Native architecture experience with reusable components, styling, responsive layouts, platform-specific behavior, and lifecycle.
• Experience with React Navigation or equivalent, state management and data fetching, REST APIs, WebSockets, authentication, secure storage, push notifications, and analytics.
• Understanding of iOS and Android builds, permissions, configuration, debugging, versioning, and release processes; native coding experience is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of mobile performance, accessibility, responsive design, offline and poor-connectivity handling, error handling, and secure mobile development.
• Automated testing experience with Jest, React Native Testing Library, Detox, or similar; familiarity with mocking and testable architecture.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Agile, code reviews, technical documentation, and distributed-team collaboration.
• Ability to diagnose issues with logs, debuggers, crash reports, and performance tools, and communicate technical trade-offs.
• Mentoring junior developers is preferred.

Preferred technical skills

• Experience with React Native applications at scale in consumer, retail, loyalty, payments, or other high-availability customer-facing contexts.
• Expo, EAS, or equivalent build, distribution, and release automation tooling.
• Native tooling and concepts such as Xcode, Android Studio, Gradle, CocoaPods, Swift, Kotlin, Objective-C, or Java.
• Offline-first mobile experiences, background processing, local persistence, synchronization, and retry strategies.
• Observability and analytics tools such as Datadog, Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, or New Relic.
• Mobile security practices, advanced performance optimization, native modules, TurboModules/Fabric, Hermes, profiling, and memory analysis.
• Feature flags, remote configuration, A/B testing, accessibility testing, internationalization, localization, multi-brand design systems, monorepo tooling, or engineering standards.
