Overview

State Farm is moving with urgency to become a Next Gen Good Neighbor, with technology that strengthens human connections and enhances the customer experience.

Employees spend less time navigating systems and more time applying judgment, empathy, and expertise in the moments that matter most.

This is a hybrid role: qualified candidates must live within a 180-mile radius of a hub location and should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office.

Hub locations: Bloomington, IL; Richardson, TX; Tempe, AZ; Atlanta, GA.

Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization (e.g. H-1B visa).

Responsibilities

  • Build and modernize technology that supports the injury claim evaluation experience.
  • Develop and support capabilities that help claim professionals efficiently access information, navigate workflows, and manage activities throughout the injury claim process.
  • Work across a diverse technology landscape, developing modern user experiences, APIs and integrations, data capabilities, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Explore, implement, and support automation, leveraging emerging technologies including generative AI to make information more accessible and streamline complex workflows.
  • Contribute to new capabilities, explore emerging technologies, and help shape technical solutions as the injury claim experience is transformed.
  • Solve meaningful problems across the full technology stack while applying modern software engineering and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

  • Modern full-stack engineering: strong Java/Spring and Angular/TypeScript fundamentals, with the ability to work across APIs, user interfaces, data access, and enterprise integrations.
  • Cloud-native delivery and operations: experience with AWS, OpenShift/Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, security controls, production support, and observability using tools such as Dynatrace.
  • Quality engineering and automation: ability to design and maintain reliable automated testing using tools such as JUnit, Playwright, and Jest, emphasizing regression prevention, maintainability, and dependable CI/CD pipelines.
  • Data, integration, and workflow design: comfort working with SQL/PostgreSQL, REST APIs, document processing, and complex business rules across interconnected systems.
  • Emerging AI and developer-productivity practices: curiosity about how GenAI, coding assistants, retrieval, structured prompting, evaluation, and lightweight agent workflows could improve engineering efficiency, testing, documentation, or user experiences.
  • End-to-end AI ownership is not required; the focus is identifying practical, well-governed opportunities and validating them incrementally.

Compensation

  • Compensation is based on a standard 38:45-hour work week.
  • Potential starting salary range: $97,000 - $120,000.
  • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience; the high end of the range is limited to applicants with significant relevant experience.
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary.

Benefits

  • Eligible for an annual raise and bonus.
  • Robust health and wellbeing programs; State Farm pays most of the healthcare premium and offers multiple healthcare plan options including a high deductible plan.
  • All medical plans provide 100% coverage for in-network preventative care, plus vision, dental, telemedicine, 24/7 mental health professionals, and more.
  • Educational benefits including industry leading training programs, tuition assistance programs, employee resource groups, and mentoring.
  • Fertility/IVF/adoption assistance, college coaching, national discount programs, interactive monthly financial workshops, free financial coaching, and more.
  • Generous time off policies including up to 20 days annually initially, parental leave, paid holidays, celebration day, life leave (40 hours/year), bereavement leave, and community service/education support days.
  • Matching Gift Program, Good Neighbor Grant Program, and the Employee Assistance Fund.
  • Retirement planning with free financial advisors and a 401(k) plan with company contributions of up to 7% of salary.
