Software Engineer, Associate

Role overview

Typical responsibilities

• Translate business and technical requirements into software solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and document features, enhancements, and system modifications.
• Maintain applications and troubleshoot defects using root-cause analysis.
• Prepare test data and complete unit and integration testing before handoff to functional and QA teams.
• Maintain technical designs, user documentation, installation procedures, and maintenance documentation.
• Estimate assigned development activities and deliver according to requirements and project plans.
• Learn and use existing tools, applications, and frameworks; collaborate across the software lifecycle.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 1 to 3 years of software development experience with ILE, RPGLE, CLLE, DB2 for IBM i, SQL, and Free-Format RPG.
• Experience in one or more programming languages such as Java, jQuery, or JavaScript.
• Understanding of software development methods, design, implementation, requirements, specifications, documentation, testing, and quality assurance.
• Analytical, design, and problem-solving skills; ability to understand existing code and troubleshoot issues.
• Verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a collaborative cross-functional team.

Preferred qualifications

• Exposure to IBM i, AS/400, or System i development; familiarity with the IBM i environment, IFS, security, subsystems, commands, or service programs.
• Infinium or other Infor ERP experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant web technologies, including Servlets, JavaScript, jQuery, Angular, HTML, XML, CSS, XSL, JSP, AJAX, JSON, and SQL, is advantageous.
• Familiarity with software configuration management or source control tools is preferred.
• Self-motivation, adaptability, willingness to learn, and a team-player mindset are preferred.
