Backend Software Engineer at the Associate or Assistant Vice President level.
Design, build, and operate services that power the iCapital platform.
The platform primarily uses Scala, Ruby, and Python; prior experience with these languages is not required, and candidates may bring other modern-language experience.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs; translate business and product needs into practical solutions.
- Own projects from design through production rollout and ongoing support; write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions.
- Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards.
- Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into services.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery, investigation, and learning.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience with a modern programming language such as Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
- Experience building or integrating with APIs and backend services; knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
- Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern software delivery practices.
- Understanding of cloud application development and distributed systems.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools to plan work, refine specifications, delegate tasks, and validate implementation quality.
Compensation
- Base salary range is $80,000 to $140,000 depending on level.
- Compensation includes salary, equity for all full-time employees, and an annual performance bonus.

Workplace
