Role overview

Software Engineer joining the engineering team in Burnaby to build agentic systems for software development and data engineering workflows.

Works with software engineers, data engineers, architects, product managers, and security partners to connect LLMs, developer tools, data platforms, and governed processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test agentic systems, coding-agent workflows, and AI-assisted engineering experiences.
  • Integrate developer tools, source control, issue tracking, APIs, and data services; develop agent prompts, tools, workflows, and evaluation harnesses.
  • Build tests and evaluate agent outputs for correctness, reliability, security, and acceptance criteria.
  • Improve agent context, retrieval, feedback, and orchestration; review and validate AI-generated code.
  • Contribute human checkpoints and governance across AI-assisted planning, coding, testing, code review, and delivery.
  • Investigate defects with cross-functional partners and document designs, procedures, agent behavior, and lessons learned.

What you bring

  • 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience is welcome.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript; understanding of data structures, algorithms, APIs, testing, debugging, and version control.
  • Experience building services, automation, integrations, or developer tools in a collaborative environment.
  • Hands-on data engineering fundamentals: pipelines, ETL/ELT, batch and streaming processing, and data modeling.
  • SQL proficiency and familiarity with data platforms, orchestration, data quality, and observability.
  • Familiarity with LLMs, prompt design, RAG, tool calling, or agentic workflows; comfort inspecting and correcting coding-agent output.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, and observability; strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and learning skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

Success milestones

In the first 90 days, learn the systems and culture, connect with mentors and stakeholders, and establish short- and long-term goals.

By six months, deliver production-quality workflow, integration, or evaluation enhancements and contribute tests, documentation, observability, and operational improvements.

By one year, own significant features, improve agent reliability or developer productivity, and help establish repeatable evaluation and safe-deployment practices.

Workplace

  • The source includes a hybrid role hashtag; it does not provide a detailed schedule or office attendance policy.

Compensation

  • Base salary is $83,000–$120,000 plus corporate bonus; no pay cadence is stated.

Benefits

  • Benefits include health coverage, paid time off, flexible work options, learning and career programs, paid volunteer hours, employee resource groups, and a charitable giving match.
