Role overview

The Software Development Test Engineer II contributes to quality assurance and testing strategy for software products.

The role designs, executes, and maintains manual and automated test solutions for new and existing functionality.

Works with software engineers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to validate requirements, identify defects, and improve test coverage.

The role calls for growing automation expertise and independent work in an Agile environment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain functional, regression, integration, and system test cases and scripts.
  • Create and enhance automated scripts for recurring scenarios and critical workflows.
  • Analyze requirements, specifications, and user stories to ensure test coverage.
  • Document, prioritize, and track defects; partner with developers on root cause analysis.
  • Validate features, enhancements, fixes, and releases across applicable web, mobile, API, and platform applications.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies and release readiness discussions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps to improve test strategies, environments, and release quality.
  • Maintain test documentation and data, and trace requirements to test coverage.
  • Support API, database, and end-to-end testing; improve QA processes, automation frameworks, and standards.
  • Mentor junior test engineers or guide test execution and defect documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or software development.
  • Working knowledge of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience designing and executing manual and automated test cases using AI tools such as Claude and/or Copilot.
  • Familiarity with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or similar automation tools.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Java, Python, JavaScript, or a similar language.
  • Experience with Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps, or equivalent test management and defect tracking tools.
  • API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured are preferred.
  • Basic SQL, database, and client-server or microservices architecture knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills; ability to manage priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
