Role overview

Lead a new Vancouver team responsible for agentic customer experiences and experience orchestration interfaces for Amazon shopping.

The platform composes independently owned experiences into complete pages across web and app.

The team owns the authoring language and toolchain used by builders and AI agents, including generated constructs, build validation, and agent-authoring evaluations.

The role calls for technical leadership, greenfield product vision, team building, and AI-native development practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Recruit, mentor, motivate, promote, and manage performance for an inclusive, high-performing engineering team.
  • Set the technical vision and roadmap for how agents discover, render, and compose shopping experiences.
  • Own the orchestration authoring language, generated constructs, build-time synthesis and validation, runtime conformance tests, and authoring abstractions.
  • Build evaluation pipelines that compare agent output against known-good results.
  • Provide IDE and build integrations, linting, documentation, migration tooling, and compatibility policies for developers.
  • Partner across product, design, and engineering to take prototypes to launch.
  • Lead architecture and design decisions and technical deep dives into complex issues.
  • Manage priorities, delivery commitments, cross-team dependencies, and risks.
  • Define strategy and roadmaps with executive and business stakeholders.
  • Monitor service availability, latency, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture and support engineer development.

Basic qualifications

  • At least 3 years of engineering team management experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
  • At least 8 years leading definition and development of multi-tier web services.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, certification, and operations.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience building a new team or launching a greenfield product.
  • Experience with developer platforms, SDKs, languages, compilers, or infrastructure-as-code tooling such as AWS CDK.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems, server-driven UI, or rendering and layout platforms.
  • Experience with LLM applications, AI agents, agent protocols, or evaluating LLM output quality.
  • Experience promoting AI-native software development practices.
  • Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leaders about requirements, features, designs, or strategy.
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineers.

Compensation

  • The listed annual base salary range for Vancouver, British Columbia is CAD 171,400 to CAD 286,200.
  • Total compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units; final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location.
